Filling the gap between the two walls of a house with an insulating material massively decreases the amount of heat which escapes through the walls. It will help create a more even temperature in your home, help prevent condensation on the walls and ceilings and can also reduce the amount of heat building up inside your home during summer hot spells. You may be entitled to a grant to help insulate your home or alternatively if you are not entitled to a grant you can get a substantial discount.
Both the loft and cavity will require an insulation survey prior to the installation of any Cavity Wall Insulation or Loft Insulation. This will determine the suitability of the property for insulation measures. This free insulation survey by Alva Surveyors typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes and you are not obliged to go ahead afterwards. Cavity wall insulation is quick, clean and relatively inexpensive to install. It's injected into the cavity from the outside taking between two and three hours in a three bedroom semi-detached house.

The Department if Energy & Climate Change (DECC) low carbon buildings programme provides grants for microgeneration technologies including: solar photovoltaic, wind turbines, small scale hydro, solar water heating, heat pumps and bioenergy.
