Householders who make use of the Government Boiler Scrappage Scheme can receive £400 cashback when they scrap an old G-rated boiler and fit in its place a new A-rated boiler or renewable heat technology. (England only)
Domestic heating accounts for 14 per cent of the UKs CO2 emissions. (source: Energy savings Trust) An efficient heating system can reduce household energy bills and carbon emissions. By offering 125,000 households financial assistance towards the cost of upgrading their boiler the Scheme will save in the region of 140,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The reductions in CO2 emissions and running costs are a consequence of the fuel efficiency of A-rated boilers. Renewable heat technologies do not use fossil fuels, which reduces CO2 emissions further.
By upgrading your G-rated boiler to an A-rated equivalent, your household heating bill should drop by, on average, around £235 a year. Call Alva Surveyors for more details about the scrappage scheme.

The Department if Energy & Climate Change (DECC) low carbon buildings programme provides grants for householders.
Grants are available for microgeneration technologies including: solar photovoltaic, wind turbines, small scale hydro, solar water heating, heat pumps and bio-energy.

Alva Surveyors are working with our associates to lower carbon emissions and to help consumers find alternative energy sources.

Funding for householders is set at 30% of the installed cost up to £4,000.
If you live in Scotland you can choose to apply for an Energy Saving Scotland home renewables grant or a low carbon buildings programme grant. However, you cannot have a grant from both programmes for one technology.
